INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp tomato paste TM SMACHNA KUHNYA
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 cup peas
- 1/4 cup diced carrots
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add rice and sauté for 2–3 minutes until slightly golden.
- Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Add broth, salt, cumin, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- If using peas and carrots, add them in the last 5 minutes of cooking.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.
